This season, our theme is Tea and Knitting. 🧶 For these cooler months, let’s relax with some home brewed tea and comfy knitting projects.

Cozy Knitting Marathon

Knitting is a beautiful craft that originated in Egypt between 500 and 1200 CE. As its popularity grew, the craft spread from Northern Africa to Europe through Middle Eastern trade routes during the 14th century. The oldest knit artifact that we know of is a sock.

Admittedly, I probably won’t be making many socks (we’ll see), but I will be making plenty of hats and sweaters. My goal is to knit as much as possible to get through many WIPs (Works in Progress) and my yarn stash.

One of my older sweaters that I plan on flipping into something else.

1. Handmade Knitwear

Handmade knits, like quilts, are a labor of love. Try knitting a sweater this season. I remember my first one: a mishmash of color work and texture with poorly constructed sleeves. But, it was mine and I love it! I would eventually fix the sleeves years later.

2. Tea

There’s nothing cozier than lounging on the sofa on a cold evening, snuggling in a comfortable blanket, and knitting away with a mug of delicious hot tea. Let’s explore some unique tea blends and flavors that help soothe the body and mind.

3. Cookies

What better treat to serve with your tea than home baked cookies? Time to bring out the holiday goods for cookie tins and cookie exchange parties.

Winter Mermaid Color Palette

This season’s color palette is inspired by the common winter colors in my region and the birthday cake I made for my baby cousin a few years back. I imagined a beautiful snow queen mermaid who lives in the nearby lake.
