As the flowers begin to bloom in my area, I wait patiently for the lavender to come to life. Lavender is not only a precious color, but it also has a beautiful aroma. Its scent and flavor can all be captured in a cup of sweet lavender tea. The added mint makes it especially lovely.

Inspiration for Lavender Mint Tea Recipe

My garden was slightly overrun with spearmint this season, and I really needed to find a use for the mint as it grew along my fence. I had so much that I started experimenting with the plant, and I ended up throwing a few of its leaves into my lavender tea. Since this is a loose tea, you might want to purchase or create your own tea bags to make the brewing process easier.

It was unexpectedly delicious. Lavender tea is good on its own, but the addition of mint truly spiced it up, especially with a generous spoonful of wildflower honey. Since this tea is an herbal infusion, the floral flavors can be a bit strong. For the best taste, add some honey, preferably one with a nice flavor profile.

Honey Matters

Did you know that honeys can vary in flavor depending on what kind of nectar the bees collect? You can alter the flavor of your tea simply by experimenting with honey flavors. I like to use wildflower honey for its sweet, earthy, and fruity notes; it’s my go to honey because it is widely available where I live. However, when I get the opportunity, I prefer goldenrod honey for its “butterscotch” and spicy notes.

If strong flavors are not your favorite, try milder honeys such as orange blossom (sweet and citrusy) or clover (sweet and delicate).
