Many people move to New York City to pursue a better quality of life―to be embraced by the Statue of Liberty and its promise of opportunity. In my young adulthood, I moved out of New York City to pursue a better quality of life, for the standards of living have degraded for me and those I love. Enter my journal series: Subway Scribbles.
Here, I journal about my experiences as an ex-New Yorker living an entirely new rural and suburban life. Sometimes I go back to the City to reminisce and reflect, but mostly I am relieved that I have left. That said, the Subway still runs deep in my veins.
