Domestic arts consist of skills, crafts, and activities related to the home. Cooking and baking come to mind, but these arts also include maintenance, home management, repairs, and cleaning. Both of my parents were heavily invested in creating beautiful and functional spaces to not only enhance the prosperity of our family, but to also give us security and dignity. Despite growing up a bit of a tomboy, I have an appreciation for homemaking and love dabbling in it. There is plenty of value and enjoyment in these activities, and the skills are appropriate for everyone. We take many of them for granted.

Recipes

Here, explore recipes that cover comfort food, seasonal fare, and dishes than span time, history, tradition, and culture. I am heavily inspired by Indigenous American ingredients, local produce, family tradition, and cultural tradition.

Garden

Gardens are precious places that connect us to Mother Earth. They enrich our relationships with plants, animals, insects, and each other. Regardless if your garden is a modest ledge in front of a small window, or a stretch of patchy grass in a yard, there is always something to grow, and a way to appreciate life.

From the Hearth

Taking care of our living space is taking care of our health. Housekeeping can be drudgery, yet refreshes the soul when done well. It is a vital survival skill that maintains our dignity, keeps us organized, and safe.
