Welcome to Homestyle Alchemy, my online journal where I share various adventures featuring folk crafts, domestic arts with a modern twist, and simpler living by making the most of the materials and land around us. My goal is to inspire others to be more creative, sustainable, and self-sufficient while having fun doing so!

Even though I ironically share my world through technology (i.e. blogs and social media), it is evident that today’s modern life has actively removed us from enjoying the emotions, discoveries, and capabilities that allow us to enjoy being human. It is why I seek to learn how to work with my hands and meditate, and why I wish to share this love with others.

Creating things ourselves gives us the gift of dignity. We can transform ourselves through nuanced, humble, and practical means.

What is “Alchemy?”

from Arabic: al-kīmiyā

1. Noun : a medieval chemical science and speculative philosophy aiming to achieve the transmutation of the base metals into gold, the discovery of a universal cure for disease, and the discovery of a means of indefinitely prolonging life.
2. Noun : a power or process that changes or transforms something in a mysterious or impressive way.
